Our Christmas Tree

Yesterday we went and cut down our Christmas tree.....

I got to document it while the others did all the work.... my sister cut hers as well so they formed a tree train to carry them out.

Christmas Decorations

We decided to head to the Christmas Dove today to pick out an ornament for Nick. We took him last year and he picked a train. The ornaments can be personalized so we added his name and the date. I think we have started a new tradition. This year he wanted a hammer but we could not find one so we picked out another train.... two of his favorite things. I saw an ornament I just had to have too..... And on the way home we stopped to pick a wreath for our front door.

Enjoyed our extra long weekend but hate when they come to an end. Tomorrow will be brutal..... the day will be very long. Can't wait till some much needed vacation time at Christmas.

Happy Thanksgiving

I have some much to be thankful for..... my awesome man and our wonderful son.... my family and all my friends. I am also thankful for a great all natural home cooked meal. 

Here is our monster turkey.... 38 pounds

Now this is not a small platter and these legs take up the whole plate....

Yes we will be eating turkey everything for the next month or so but that's ok, at least we know we won't go hungry.

Turkey day

Today was the day we butchered our turkeys. It is a sad day yet a joyful day..... it is the ending of its life but it will be feeding our family on Thursday and probably Friday and Saturday and ...... at 38 pounds we will get a lot of use out of the big guy and for that I am extremely thankful.

Kaleidoscope

Nick and I went to the Kaleidoscope Children's Museum today to see my good friend perform for the kiddos and sign copies of his new book - Don't Play Catch with Jelly. Fun book and a great time for Nick. I recommend this place for kid's age 1 till about 6. I didn't think I would get Nick to leave. 

Thanksgiving

I am thankful for these turkeys..... they have no idea what is in store for them on Sunday.... but boy oh boy will they be yummy!!!

Beautiful Wedding

I have been editing each night trying to get wedding pictures finished.... loved the setting.... Grand View Inn in Jaffrey. Here are a couple I am still working on... I am sure they will change again......

Had a nice day with my sister and the kiddos. Did a mini session with them, boy is it hard to get pics of 3 kids who don't want their picture taken..... so here is one of our winter woodpile instead.....

Picking a tree

Today was such a gorgeous day, we decided to go and pick out our Christmas tree. We brought along my sister and niece so they could pick theirs as well. It is mid November and I was walking around with a short sleeve shirt on, it was wonderful.....

Some people put decorations on their trees to help find it easier. I am always ill prepared because we usually decide at the last minute to go but here are a couple of my favorites......

It is getting dark earlier every day.... I don't like it, doesn't leave me much time to shoot. I got this one of some of the last leaves hanging on to our apple tree.

We picked a final time in our gardens today.... sad that we will no longer have fresh veggies out of the garden... but at least our freezer is full for winter. 

On another note, I had been hearing weird noises outside our front door, almost like someone was knocking.... turns out the blue jays have been eating our decorative corn..... crazy birds.

Went to my sister's house today for a pumpkin carving party..... the kid's had a blast.... well at least for the first 10 minutes and then they lost interest and ran off to play.... so of course the adults finished them up... I think they came out very nice -

I went for a walk in the woods today with my little man.... it was a beautiful fall day....

This tree looks like it was hit by lightening, Nick is now calling it the lightening tree... he looks so tiny but the tree is gigantic....

And on another note, the pumpkin sitting on our front steps suddenly has some bite marks in it, looks like something is coming by for a little snack....
